Arthur Cobb Running Red Knot

$6,500.00

Red Knot by Arthur Cobb circa 1890 with carved eyes and running attitude. Pictured in “Wings of Wonder” on page 169, Dr. Lloyd S. Newberry stated the following: “Arthur’s work deviated from that of other family members in two significant ways. He seldom carved split tails to indicate wingtips and he seldom inletted the necks of his duck decoys.” These fine shorebirds were carved in a time when form and function outweighed stylized details. This example survives in worn original paint.
