Bold drake canvasback from the Jarvisburg area of Currituck, North Carolina with oversized body, well carved head and paddle tail. After market gunning was outlawed, Will and his brothers Dennis and Daniel operated a hunting lodge from 1919 until 1939. Probably from the 1920’s this warrior has seen the salty battlefield many times and survived to tell stories all of us wish we could hear. The well-aged surface is a combination of original and gunner’s paint from many years ago. Neck cracks, some portions of the body worn to bare wood and a double ballast remain on the underside. A very similar example is shown on page 222 of "“Gunnin’ Birds” by Kroghie Andresen. This beast measures a full 17” long.
