Davison Hawthorne Yellowlegs
Intricately carved yellowlegs by this well known carver who lived in Greenwood, Delaware in his later years. Early collectors may remember The Sandpiper, a shop run by he and his wife Kaye, offering decoys and sporting art just north of Salisbury, Maryland. An avid upland game bird hunter, he carved upland game birds, shorebirds and waterfowl. This finely carved and painted example has raised and carved wings, fluted tail and detailed paint pattern. Mounted on a driftwood base, it is signed and dated 1972 measuring roughly 8” tall and 7” long.
