Born in 1876 on Chincoteague Island, Doug spent his entire life there guiding, fishing and making decoys. This hen bufflehead is circa 1940’s and made from cottonwood. It remains in original paint with expected wear from use. The head is fastened directly to the body with carved nostrils and mandibles. The ballast was removed at some point although the line tie remains. It measures approximately 11” long.
