Displaying the classic “Catton Smile” as his decoys are known to exhibit due to the mandible carving that extends aft of the bill on either side, this drake bluebill has it all. Catton was from Ridgetown, Ontario (1854-1933) and carved some iconic decoys, especially his high head canvasbacks. This example displays worn original paint with expected wear, cracking and crazing. The solid body in enhanced with a well defined paddle tail with remnants of comb paint visible on the back. It measures approximately 13.5” long.
