Ira Hudson Black Duck

$925.00

The best known of the Chincoteague carvers, Ira Hudson (1873-1949) carved many black ducks during his long and well documented carving career. This oversized example exhibits wonderful form with graceful lines including a smooth paddle tail. The sheet lead ballast weight has “WM” cold stamped into it, purportedly denoting the William Muir Rig. The paint appears to be a second coat and there is a crack in the back. This large example measures about 18” long.
