The best known of the Chincoteague carvers, Ira Hudson (1873-1949) carved many decoys during his long and well documented carving career. This hen redhead circa 1930’s exhibits wonderful form with graceful lines including a fluted paddle tail. The sheet lead ballast weight remains intact. Most of the paint shows as original under UV light inspection with the exception of the bill which was enhanced many years ago. This rare example measures about 16” long.
