Unknown Shorebird
Purchased from a Charleston estate, this wonderfully carved shorebird is thought to be from either Long Island or the Eastern Shore of Virginia circa 1890. It has a square cut nail bill, carved face and raised wings with paint that has extensive craquelure and alligatoring. A tight crack can be seen along the bottom, it measures 10” l.
