Ward Bros. Broadbill
An outstanding and early example of a broadbill or bluebill by these famous brothers from Crisfield, Maryland signed and dated 1930. One of a handful of remaining examples from this rig, this drake has a turned head with wide bill and stipple paint on the back with no tail chip. Most of the remaining decoys from this rig have a straight head and tail chips. A drake from this rig is shown on page 46, plate 37 in “The Ward Brothers’ Decoys - A Collectors Guide” by Gard & McGrath. A fine example indeed.
