Ward Brothers Bluebill

$7,500.00

Extremely rare and early “pinch breast” drake bluebill by Lem & Steve Ward from Crisfield, Maryland circa 1932. This design is considered their best and most desirable as their carving took on many different models over the decades of their careers. This example exhibits graceful lines with downturned paddle tail and turned head with carved mandibles and nostrils. The head has lifted slightly from the body but remains stable. The surface appears to be an old second coat by Miles Hancock from Chincoteague, Virginia. The bottom contains “L. T. Ward” written under the tail and the Roy Bull Collection hot brand. Pinch breast model Ward Brothers decoys are rare in any condition. Single pinch breast decoys have sold in the $250,000 range at auction. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a rare and historic example of their work. This decoy measures about 15.5” long.
